Selective Yield Yarding System (SYYS) is a result of over thirty years of research and design into the the harvesting of timber. SYYS allows for the harvesting of timber in a more environmentally sound manner, thereby saving timberlands while still harvesting much needed timber. SYYS saves both jobs and the environment.
SYYS's highly innovative design provides for a silviculturally sensitive method of harvesting timber. SYYS works around problems such as steep or isolated areas. When logging is unprofitable due to small volume or prohibitive to entry due to increasing environmental timber harvest plan regulations, SYYS may be used in sensitive forestlands where existing equipment and technology cannot. Landowners, loggers, and professional forestry personnel nationwide are demanding a low impact, cost effective solution to future timber removal.
With SYYS, the tractor, with its mounted tower and winches, simply moves through the forests to preplanned locations and the yarding cable is run down to an anchor tree. There are no wide landing areas to bulldoze and no excessive ground disturbance. Narrow skid trails replace high disturbance skid roads of the past.
A SYYS machine has been in opperation since August of 1993. Arrangements may be made for live operation vewing.
