Salmon & Steelhead in the Classroom

This one day workshop is designed to prepare teachers to raise salmon or trout in their classrooms in a way that will enrich their science, math and social studies curriculum, and will adhere to approved California Fish and Game procedures for the program. The goal of the Salmon and Trout in the Classroom Program is to educate children about these fish, their habitats and how to protect them.

This course will show teachers how to successfully raise salmon or trout in classroom incubators, increase knowledge about California's salmon and trout and their habitat's and impart information about California Department of Fish and Game codes that govern this program. Procedures for obtaining eggs and the permit process will be covered and teachers will be introduced to curriculum materials about California's salmon and trout.

To get advance notice of the course date, contact the Humboldt State University Office of Extended Education to be placed on a mailing list. This course will fill quickly!
